Lumbini: This place consists of many temples and monastery of Gautam Buddha and this is the birth place of Gautam Buddha. This place also consists of sacred pond where the mother of Gautam Buddha bathed and after the birth of Buddha, took a dip into the same pond.

 

Bodhgaya: Gautam Buddha also gets hold of enlightenment in Bodhgaya which is adjacent to Gaya, a Hindu tourist place again some 15 km away from the capital city of Bihar. Buddha has created lighting sitting under a tree. Soon after he got answers to his questions, he left for Sarnath to share his knowledge with his friends who later became his disciples.

Sarnath – Sarnath is very famous place that is visited by the thousands of tourists every year. There is also history related to this place, when Gautam Buddha started their journey to Sarnath, he had to walk over the water as he did not have money to pay for it. The king of Varanasi has abolished the toll taxes when he came to know about this. He then gifted a deer park to the Buddhists. The deer park is still there along with a museum and a monastery. The place also has a huge idol of Buddha.

Kushinagar- The last visited place of Buddha is Kushinagar where he breathed his last. Kushinagar has a temple of Buddha and a monastery.

Ajanta Caves- Ajanta caves are located in Maharashtra state of India. These are holes containing artistic creations that show stories from past births of Gautam Buddha. It is accepted that Buddha took numerous births before he was conceived as Buddha. He was insightful in all these past births and had much to impart to everybody. These stories are known as the Jataka stories. The painted creations in Ajanta caverns are located.
